GENERAL INFORMATION

Preleg Wire is available in three types of adhesive coatings.

Type #1 has the highest temperature melting point and is added to the component side of the board before and after wave soldering where only aqueous cleaning methods are used.

Type #2 has excellent tack but the lowest melting point. It is recommended for Post wave-soldering applications where only moderate cleaning agents are being used.

Type #3 is a good general purpose coating. It has good tack and is chemical resistant. This wire is recommended for applications where the wire will be exposed to aggressive cleaning agents at elevated temperatures.

Preleg Wire  attached to the solder side of the PC board must not be run through wave soldering.

In production applications, wire may be batch cut and stripped at both ends.

Wire may be stacked on top of each other. However, do not apply excessive force with Preleg Iron.

The cleaning surface of the Preleg Cleaner is renewed by removing a layer of cord whenever the cleaner has excessive residual adhesive. Re-secure the end of the cord by forcing it between the spool flange and the remaining cord. The cord has been treated with a fire retardant material. Do not use ordinary cotton cord.

Adhesive will continue to strengthen for approximately 12 hours, even though cooling takes place much more rapidly.

The Preleg Iron TIP is a precision part and must be handled with care. Periodic removal and cleaning will increase life expectancy.

Preleg Wire should always be applied the correctly sized Preleg Tip for best results.
